Buying Gold and Powerlevelling: Collateral Damage
When it comes to buying gold in exchange for real currency, or paying a service to level your character, one doesn’t often take into consideration the negative impact these actions have on their server of origin or the game in general. I don’t really understand it myself, but it seems that some players have more money than they do time, and so buy their way into characters/in-game currency. Blizzard recently made an official statement address this issue, which you can find here.
I thought it important to mention simply because I have had guildmates stripped of their belongings, and this would be much less prevalent if the market for currency were not so large. Obviously you can make your own moral choice as to whether you are comfortable buying in-game currency or not, but it’s something to keep in mind!
